Twig and Tail I M A G I N A R I U M is a child’s palisade of found wonder and provocative inquiry. We are a welcoming platform for newly arrived souls to come in and discover the magic of their new natural world and the marvels of their own inner nature. Our journeys take us outwardly to the forrest, beach and classroom, and inwardly to the frontera of play and applied imagination, through socratic inquiry, song, craft, and exploration.

Hosted in the Oakland hills, Alameda, and Berkeley, Twig and Tail I M A G I N A R I U M is planting seeds in this important stage of the child’s journey, so kids can grow and expand on their life’s path rooted in confidence, curiosity, and motivation.

About Us

In a world that is inundated with technology and modern superfluous amenities, we get back to the roots and learn in the real world, what truly matters. Where being in the elements and nature feeds a child’s imagination, creativity and connection to themselves and the Earth.

Your child will build social skills, creative thinking, awareness, focus, respect, and develop inroads to becoming critical thinkers.

Connecting with themselves, nature and the Earth leads to wholesomeness, self-esteem, self-reliance, inner balance, and the seeds of peace and love.

From time to time we have Special Guest Day where people from various walks of life come to share their expertise with the children to present unique workshops providing a rich exchange for learning special skills, imagination and personal growth.

Parents are expected to reimburse the guest for their projects material costs not to exceed $90 divided collectively between the parents.

Activities and Play

Hut Building: Kids love having fun creating their own space, shelter, forts, etc.

They learn and practice construction, building, weaving, balance, etc.

Maker Projects: "Bug & Beauty spray", Children apply focus, learn math and science while mixing various ingredients to make useful products they use themselves and for gifts.

Music: Children learn a combination of traditional Waldorf songs and popular music from every genre and tradition. We incorporate many Spanish songs and learn others from each child’s ancestry to build language learning skills and increase our awareness and connection to one another celebrating our cultural diversity. We also practice rhythm games with percussive instruments

Grounding and awareness: Children learn how to positively channel their energy and ground their bodies through fun yoga postures, flows and chi gong. They learn how to sit and meditate with nature and how their actions ripple and effect all life around them

Special Guest Day: Boat Making & “Empowerment Hats”. Guest Clay shared a story he wrote for his own son at the age of 5. The message to the kids was to be inspired to reflect on their inner joy and create a physical totem as a symbol to never forget their unique most valued truths on their journey in life.

Planting: Children learn about seeds and growing their own food for nourishment. Sprouting, planting seeds, imbue the cycles of life.

Cultural Celebrations: Kids really enjoy participating in making food, treats, beverages according to the theme of the occasion. Tasting different foods, they experience enjoyment, nourishment and sharing.

Ceremony: Special Seasonal Events such as the Solstice Spiral. Children participate in inner reflection and self confidence while creating and enjoying the beauty and meaning of the event.
